Terms of service
The rules of using Pulse.
Last updated: 20 May 2026
What Pulse is, and is not
Pulse is an informational digital health companion that runs on the phone you already have. It produces a structured, cryptographically-signed record of selected health signals (heart-rate estimate via remote photoplethysmography, voice journal of how you feel, ambient air quality at your location).
Pulse is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. The mechanism we use for heart-rate estimation is clinically validated elsewhere (FDA-cleared rPPG software exists, clearance K240890), but Pulse itself is informational only at launch. Do not use Pulse in place of professional medical advice, in an emergency, or as the sole basis for any health decision. Always consult a qualified clinician for diagnosis or treatment.
Acceptance
By creating a Pulse account or using the service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use Pulse.
Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to create a Pulse account on your own behalf. A parent or legal guardian may create and manage a profile for a child under 16 within their family timeline.
Your account
- You are responsible for keeping your account credentials safe.
- You may not create an account using another person's identity, or share your account with another person.
- One free tier per person; abuse of multiple free accounts is grounds for suspension.
Subscriptions and billing
- Free tier: 5 readings per calendar month, included indefinitely.
- Family plan: monthly or annual subscription with the price displayed in your local currency at checkout.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel any time from Settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- Refunds: we provide a full refund within 14 days of first paid signup, no questions asked, in line with EU consumer protection law.
What you may not do
You may not:
- Use Pulse for emergency medical situations (call your local emergency number instead)
- Use Pulse output as a basis for diagnosing or treating any person, including yourself
- Submit data on behalf of another adult without their explicit, documented consent
- Attempt to alter, forge, or strip signatures from Pulse Records
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract our model weights
- Use Pulse to harass, deceive, or harm any person
Your content
You own the health data you submit. You grant us a limited licence to process it solely to operate the Pulse service and generate the Pulse Records you request. We do not use your identifiable data to train AI models.
Sharing a Pulse Record
When you share a Pulse Record with a clinician, family member, or any third party, you are responsible for choosing the recipient. Once a record is shared, the recipient holds a copy. Revoking the share link makes future verification impossible but does not retrieve copies the recipient already downloaded.
Service availability
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may perform maintenance, upgrade the AI models we use, or temporarily suspend the service for security reasons without prior notice.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Aqta Technologies Limited is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of Pulse, including decisions made on the basis of Pulse output. Our total liability in any case is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or fifty euros, whichever is higher. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Termination
You may delete your account from Settings at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, if continued provision exposes us to legal risk, or if we discontinue the service. We will give you reasonable notice and a window to export your data unless immediate termination is required for security or legal reasons.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts, without prejudice to your rights as a consumer in your country of residence under EU law.
Changes
If we change these terms materially we will notify you in the app at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Continued use after the effective date is your acceptance of the new terms.
